Buying Gas and Morality

I’ve taken the moral high ground for years and refused to buy gas from Exxon. Sure, the Exxon Vladez crashed more than seven months before I was born. That’s beside the point.

Funny thing is, instead of buying from Exxon I bought from BP. (I didn’t do this, Louisiana, I swear.)

Now I’m taking the high ground and refusing to buy from BP ever again. This oil spill has gone on for how long now? They’re trying to shoot trash down the pipe to stop any more oil from spewing out? What the hell kind of engineers is BP employing?

Regardless, I encourage you to think critically about the impact that companies you buy from have on the world. I realize that I buy Apple products and they use Chinese labor. That’s a Catch-22 I’m just going to have to live with.

Evaluate social, political or environmental impacts of the companies you buy from and make the switch if you find yourself disagreeing with how they handle themselves.

You vote with your dollar. It’s been said a million times but it’s the truth.
